2014: Wearing treasured "ONLY IN MAYNARD" shirt |
LAST NEWSPAPER COLUMN: After May 5, 2022, the newspaper ceased to be a printed newspaper, going forward as an e-paper. I stopped writing for the e-paper but have continued to post content, just not as frequently.
Many of the column's 2009-2011 articles were incorporated into a book "MAYNARD: History and Life Outdoors" in November 2011.
Many of the column's 2012-14 articles were incorporated into a book "Hidden History of Maynard" in August 2014.

Many of the column's 2015-20 articles were incorporated into a book "Maynard Massachusetts: A Brief History" in December 2020.
As of May 2022 the count was 426 columns (not counting ~50 repeats) and I had not run out of ideas. About 300 columns are posted here. Some of the early columns were removed after content was incorporated into my early books. And there is post-paper content.
Let's see - born in New York City, grew up in New Jersey, Massachusetts resident 1969-1978 and again 2000 to present, those last 20 years in Maynard. Retired. Most recently an expert science consultant to the food and dietary supplement industry.
This blog is dedicated to my family: Jean, my wife of 43 years, Rachel, our daughter, who is leading a richly complex life in California, and to the memory of Daniel Mark, our son, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 25 years, from complications related to epilepsy. Daniel worked outdoors and enjoyed many outdoor activities.
